Week in Pictures

Jason took this photo, I love how the fireworks mimic the shape of the palm.

I had a wicked allergy attack after this was taken.

We are close to the ocean...

... and Lulu couldn't be happier.

I know these pictures might resonate only with the people who know the wiener dog that is Lulu, and for the rest of you sorry for the whole "again with the pictures of her dogs? seriously." I get it, it might be overkill, I can't help it!!!

Flowers and Color.

My garden is not fancy or super special in any way. Flowers are consistently booming while others are dying, all year long- the magic of living in CA. There is always something new to see, some color to be surprised by and I just love it. It's like getting a present every morning, I like to have my tea out here, and I like to just sit on my pretty pillows. My garden gives me a sense of gratitude. I know I am lucky to have it, along with the other things in life that bring me joy. I also realize it's delicate and fragile, and like most things in life it will not last forever. I want to really cherish it while it's here- healthy, blooming and making me smile.

I visit my boyfriend's art studio about 50 times a day. ok 40. ha! anyway I happened upon this scene the other afternoon, and thought it was too beautiful!! ROYGBIV.

ROYGBIV again. I hope you are having a lovely Monday.

Maxi.

I call them Maxi dresses, my partner calls them muumuu's . Whatever you call them, they are chic, colorful and comfortable! I wear these a lot in winter, around the house and layered with sweaters and leggings... and in the summer? I would like to live in them. Here are a few I think are especially beautiful.

Some Silly Bassets

Whenever Ayse and I are out and about we find dogs. All kinds of fuzzy, sweet dogs. Our neighborhood is super canine friendly, and it's oh so fun to take the time to meet them, and by meet them I mean pet & snug 'em. ;) These Basset Hounds were so cute and crazy! I couldn't resist saying hello... thanks Ayse for the collage! Ayse's Etsy store is back from vacation! Check it out, I particularly love this.

Photos from today...

It rained a heavy, beautiful rain in N. California today. It was the perfect day to hole up inside, and work, which is exactly what I did. Did it rain where you live today?

One of my favorite SB pieces, I can't stand to part with it!!

Our herb pot, I use it EVERY day, I can't imagine how I lived so long without it!!

Pink in the garden...

I heart this bright (almost neon) green plant on our porch.

Forever 21 here.

Voom by Joy Han here.

I love these hems that make your waist look small and legs look long. -And the colors! I started this blog as an place to organize the colors and patterns that inspire me. (and to share my own work with you, which I promise I will do more of soon) Sometimes I get so excited about a specific color combination that my heart starts to race and my face turns red. It's what inspires my work and my life, and shouldn't we all be living inspired lives... in a perfect world right?! In closing it's not about the dress or the handbag or any other superficial aspect of the items in these posts that I am craving or trying to promote to you. It's the feeling that is inspired by the patterns, fabric, stones, design, and of course the hue. I am just trying to share the excitement. What inspires you?

Oh Christina!

How I Love thee closet!

My girls close to me know I've wanted to convert on of our spare bedrooms into a proper dressing room for some time now. The room we so lovingly call the "pink room" due to it's faded pink carpet, is where I've shared many a late night conversation with my best girlfriends and sisters in law, where at any given time you might find dresses piled a mile high, it's where I spend hours reading my favorite books, and where I have everything I need in preparation for a date with J. It's receives the most beautiful dappled sunlight, and the mirrored closets do a terrible job at hiding flaws... they're honest mirrors and I love it. I have kept both a paper and a virtual folder of ideas, and inspiration for my remodel and this lovely photo will be filed there. When all is said and done the decor will change, and there might be only splashes of pink throughout- but the happiness it brings me and the preciousness of the space will be the same, and we will always call it the "pink room."

I hope everyone is having a productive week, I have been posting some new daily paintings over here.

Crown and Crumpet

My friend Jasmine and I went for a proper tea, at the lovely Crown and Crumpet in SF. We are now plotting when we can go back, ASAP. The owner Amy was so sweet and welcoming. The food was excellent, we feasted on tiny sandwiches, pastries and fruit. If you come to SF, and you love tea (or bright color and beautiful pattern), Crown and Crumpet is a MUST!

My Dressing Room

Dressing Room Table

I thought this random scene from my dressing room was cute... and those pearls? I wear them almost everyday. They make me feel fancy even when I have my "paint clothes" on, which normally aren't the hottest ;)

And that ring?

From yesterday- it lasted though lunch with a friend and a movie... but definitely had to be removed before I started working... ha!

Ok, I just had to post this. Promise no more Noir cocktail rings for a while...

Today I thought about...

... how quickly time rolls on. Just last week I was painting on location in Sonoma County with this amazing woman, and I wanted my time with her to linger, to not go SO fast. It lasted five days and the time FLEW!

When I couldn't paint anymore for the day I read. Brida by Paul Coelho, quickly became one of my favorites. I feel like this last photo could have been an image torn from that story. Have you read it? Anyway, although I would love to still be painting in Sonoma, I am very happy to be home with my partner and furry family. Have a lovely weekend!

Alligators and Cupcakes

I'm putting this ring on after my yoga class, and we'll see how long it lasts on my finger, while performing my daily activity. (I give a few hours at most) It's one of my favorite rings in my costume jewelry collection, other than this...

What's your favorite piece of costume jewelry?

This is my Aunt and my fashion forward little cousin, Keri. Keri graduated from fashion school last spring... she has a great sense of style! Her new blog, Cuppity Cake is a mix of fashion sprinkled with photos of her sweet cupcakes and desserts. The style is as addictive as the treats. check it out.

A Few For Fall

Dresses that is!
"Sunset Desert Dress" by Free People. I am starting with my favorite, I want to get this ASAP to wear over jeans or tights.

"Bora Tribal" Dress at Ruche, at the "are you kidding me" price of $29.99, this dress would look CUTE with tights and boots (of the cowboy variety ;)

"Black and Bright" dress at Anthropolgie.

I love this silk shift at Toast. I just found out about this site/catalog via one of my favorite blogs English Muse. Toast is filled with eye candy for autumn. This dress + those Betsy pumps from the last post= a very fun look.
I can hardly take it! My partner just peeped over at my computer screen and said, " Are you getting some dresses for fall?" He didn't see my blog post, just the photos, so he assumed. Pretty good assumption huh?! Hope you are having a good weekend!

I Love Jewelry. Love to make it, wear it, buy it, and sometimes love to appreciate it from afar. One can dream about wearing pieces such as these by Irene Neuwirth.  I have had the pleasure of examining many of her pieces in person, they are in a word, unbelievable. Everything from the stone selection to the settings and color of the gold is precious and impressive.  Cheers to you Ms. Neuwirth for making the world more beautiful!
